The photographs contained in this post are from a recent assignment for an editorial client, Rural Electric Magazine. The magazine sent me to Springerville, AZ to photograph a new power plant being built by Tri-State Transmission and Generation. Tri-State also happens to be a client of mine as it turns out. I had been to the Springerville plant twice before while shooter earlier annual reports for Tri-State. Tri-State is putting in a 450 megawatt generator at this site. The Springerville plant had two other generators operated by another company.
The control room has been completed enough for testing. I lit the control room using 2 Nikon SB-800 strobes pointed at the ceiling with a type of blue gel over the strobes. I also had another SB-800 pointed at the operator seated in front of the console. I had an opportunity to climb inside the boiler to capture a few cool images.
